ULLR  backcountry

REC LEVEL 1 and Rescue Courses

ULLR backcountry provides Recreation Level One Avalanche and Rescue courses following the American Avalanche Association (A3) guidelines. Learn more about snow pack assessment, weather, terrain, and how these factors contribute to stability. Also, we will ski and split board on fresh powder in the backcountry.

WINTER 2025 Courses & Clinics 

Bend, Oregon

The Recreational Level 1 and Rescue course is the foundation in the A3 (American Avalanche Center) required avalanche education progression. It will provide you with a sound understanding of basic avalanche assessment and rescue. Our course traverses varied terrain, elevations and aspects during training field sessions. You will learn skills to make informed decisions about when to go/not go. In addition, you will learn how to use local forecasting resources as well as evaluate snowpack and weather patterns to conduct yourself in and around avalanche terrain. All ULLR courses are based out of Bend with field sessions occuring in Deschutes National Forest.

AVY Rec Level 1 & Rescue Course: $595/person (3 days)

AVY 1 Refresher Clinic: $195/person (full day)

Intro to Splitboarding: $195/person (full day)

Instructor to participant ratio is 1:6.
